Sommelier

Being a wine waiter is a profession in itself. Your unique nose and well-developed taste buds create wine-food combinations that let guests fly on their culinary journey. As a sommelier you have the opportunity to work in a unique environment with exclusive wine references. You are the contact person for guests for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. You are a team player and support the maitre and restaurant manager in the daily organization and service.   Are you the wine connoisseur who will support the maitre and restaurant manager in their service to guests? Culinary/operational

  • Give advice to the guests with regards to wines and beverages in general in combination with the served dishes
  • In charge of a smooth beverage service in collaboration with the maitre and restaurant manager.
  • Creation of the wine pairing and non-alcoholic pairing.
  • Creation of wine and beverage lists + keeping the lists up to date.
  • Creation of cocktails, mocktails and aperitives + in charge of the recipes and implementation with the team. 
  • Training of the team with regards to the preparation of all hot and cold drinks.
  • Following up on the general grooming of the staff and cleanliness of the restaurant.
  • Creating a casual atmosphere with a professional and personal approach to the guest.
  • Preparing the service.
  • Welcoming and guiding the guests to the table.
  • Ensuring correct billing of all beverages.
  • Managing the wine stock.
  • Keep up to date with the latest trends in the profession.
  • Close collaboration with the chef, restaurant manager and maître. 

Administrative

  • In charge of the daily supplies of all beverages and monthly stocktaking.
  • In charge of the stocking and maintaining conditions of the beverages.
  • Making purchases taking into consideration the allocated wine budget.
  • Constant focus on primary parameters such as beverage cost and apply changes whenever necessary.

  • Very good communication skills (written and verbal).  
  • You are hospitable, friendly and have a natural courtesy.
  • You have a neat and tidy appearance and you are punctual.
  • You are flexible and adjust your position in favor of the team.
  • You are commercial, stress resistant and put the guest first.
  • You can organize, motivate and you have experience in the highest segment.
  • Enthusiast, passionate and ambitious.
  • An eye for detail and a “hands-on” mentality. 

Working days

You will be working full-time.
